It is due to the kind assistance
of Mr. Wayne Tanaka, former principal of Clark High School,
Mr. Ronnie Smith, the current principal, and Clark Community
School that we find ourselves able to use the facilities
of Clark High School. As these classrooms we use are borrowed
from the Clark High School teachers who use them during
the week, it is safe to assume that few of these teachers
submit to letting their classroom be used by others with
great alacrity. In the past, because of complaints brought
to the principal about damaged bulletin postings and classroom
equipment, an entire grade (of Las Vegas Gakuen) lost its
privileges to a classroom. Also, stemming from neighborhood
complaints about raucous students during morning drop-offs
and afternoon pickups, a separate Japanese language school
in a different region has had the experience of losing all
its privileges to an entire school. Likewise, there is no
long-term guarantee of our continued access to Clark High
School. In order to secure a stable learning environment
for our children, we need to comport ourselves with a sense
of control and an awareness of our given situation.
WE ASK THAT YOU COMPREHEND THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, THAT YOU
ADHERE TO THE RULES OF LAS VEGAS GAKUEN, AND THAT YOU INSTRUCT
YOUR CHILDREN TO DO SO AS WELL. In particular, please make
note of the following:
|
|
|
Drop-offs and Pick-ups |
a) |
Especially parents of kindergarten and lower grade students
(C1 & L100), please directly escort your child to and
from a handoff with the teacher at the classroom. |
b) |
Make sure to respect the designated times for drop-offs
and pickups. |
c) |
Refrain from honking your car’s horn or creating any other
disturbances. |
|
|
Absences,
Tardiness, Leaving Early |
a) |
When you know in advance, please give your child’s teacher
notice by turning in the specific form provided for this
purpose. In the event of same day notice, please telephone
the teacher or our office, and still be sure to retroactively
submit the same form at your next opportunity. |
b) |
In cases of absence or early departure from school, please
have a sibling or friend receive homework assignments from
your child’s teacher. If this cannot be arranged, in advance
please present the teacher with a 6x9 inch or larger, self-addressed,
stamped envelope (with postage of at least 87 cents). |
c) |
When your child is either tardy or leaving early from class,
please be sure directly escort your child to and from a
handoff with his or her teacher. |
|
|
Withdrawals
from School |
|
At least two weeks before your child is to leave school,
please submit to your child’s teacher a written notice of
withdrawal attentioned to the office. |
|
|
Changes
of Address, Telephone Number |
|
Promptly report any such changes by turning in to your child’s
teacher a written notice attentioned to the office. This
includes changes in daytime/work contact information. Similarly,
please share any changes in contact information with the
Parents Association, as they need to be able to contact
you in cases of emergency while school is in session. |
|
Accidents,
Illness at School |
a) |
Again, please promptly report any changes in the contact
information you provided on the emergency card and enrollment
form. |
b) |
In the event of an accident or sudden illness with your
child, you will be contacted by this contact information
you provided on the emergency card. While school is in session,
please remain accessible by phone or by remaining on campus
in the hospitality room at school. At the same time, make
sure that your child knows how to contact you in the event
of an emergency. For younger children, keep and update such
contact information in the memo book they bring to school
each week. |
c) |
Taking medication at school is prohibited. When your child
is ill, if at all possible, please refrain from sending
him/her to school. In cases of attending school with mild
illness, when your child is on the mend from being sick,
or there is any other situation of which the teacher should
be apprised, please do so by written notice. |
